About Us
At No Brakes Games, we don’t just build games; we engineer digital playgrounds. As the creators behind the smash hit Human Fall Flat and the upcoming, highly anticipated Human Fall Flat 2, our mission is centered around physics-based fun, emergent gameplay, and unscripted hilarity. We value a culture of high creative freedom, flat hierarchies, and a healthy work-life balance.
We are looking for a talented Level Designer to join our team. If you love crafting interactive sandboxes, solving complex spatial puzzles, and designing systems that make players laugh out loud, you’ll fit right in.
Responsibilities:
- Create level layouts: build 3D level layouts in Unity that look and play great.
- Prototyping: Rapidly prototype layout concepts, physics puzzles, and environmental hazards utilizing 3D engines.
- Shape the Sandbox: Design and implement highly interactive, physics-based levels and mechanics that encourage player expression, creativity, and cooperative gameplay.
- Iterate with Physics: Collaborate closely with programmers and artists to fine-tune emergent environmental systems so they feel intuitive, responsive, and fun.
Requirements:
- The Physics Mindset: A strong understanding of 3D environmental design and physics-driven mechanics. You know how to make objects interact in a way that feels heavy, reactive, and delightfully unpredictable.
- Experience: professional experience in game design, preferably with at least one shipped 3D platformer, puzzle, or multiplayer sandbox title, OR experience in creating levels and gameplay modifications for platformer, puzzle or multiplayer games.
- Engine Proficiency: Practical, hands-on experience working in modern 3D game engines (Unity/Unreal). Comfort with block-out/greyboxing tools is a must.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with professional fluency in English.
- Adaptability: Ability to adapt and embrace the rapid and highly iterative process of the work.
Ways to stand out:
- A deep understanding of cooperative multiplayer dynamics: You know how to design spaces that are fun to explore alone, but absolutely chaotic and joyous with friends.
- Experience working on physics engines, ragdoll mechanics, or highly systemic gameplay.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling packages (like Blender) for basic layout drafting.
- A passion for comedic, physics-based, or indie multiplayer games.
